Individual care from our family for yours
Culm Valley Pet Cremation was born, after our experiences with saying goodbye to our family members were not what we had hoped for. We have, we believe, created something on a par with the respectful and individual care given to humans. It took two years to find and develop the right site, to find the right suppliers to work with, and to train to a high standard.
Our family-run business is nestled in the heart of Devon and easily accessible from all areas of the Southwest. We’re here to help you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We promise we will treat your pet as if they were our own.
Why did we choose to start a pet crematorium?
Many years ago, we suddenly lost our little dog, Ratty, to cancer.
The shock was immense, and we were devastated. We sat in the car park of the vets in floods of tears not knowing quite what to do. We couldn’t bury him as we didn’t have anywhere suitable, and we couldn’t leave him for the vet to dispose of.
We wondered if individual cremation was a thing and googled it. Luckily there was a place not too far away that offered individual cremation, so we took him there. The gentleman who dealt with us was wonderful. The whole experience was soothing and restful and left us with a feeling of closure. That lovely gentleman has since passed away.
We have had several pets cremated since Ratty, but nobody has been able to match the service of that first cremation.
After each cremation, we would talk and talk about our lost pet as our way of grieving and invariably end up talking about the cremation and how we could do things differently.
In 2019 we had to say goodbye to Bear our beautiful black lurcher. We had to leave her in a big plastic tray in the back of an empty van. We found that absolutely heart-breaking. It was enough to inspire us to set up Culm Valley Pet Cremation Ltd.
Our Aim
We wish to emulate the work of that lovely gentleman from all those years ago and provide a service that helps grieving pet owners find peace and closure.
